Jose Fernandez

After a couple of years in flux that included multiple attempts to defect from Cuba, Fernandez has finally landed a deal with an MLB organization. The 28-year-old second baseman has long been considered one of the top Cuban players and has an extensive track record to back it up. Across 2,580 career plate appearances in his native country, Fernandez has posted a strong .319/.403/.423 slash line with 263 walks compared to only 113 strikeouts. He has not played professionally since 2014, so he will likely go through a significant stint in the minors before getting a look at the show.
