Athletics signed RHP Austin Pruitt to a minor league contract.
Pruitt made four relief appearances earlier this season for the Rangers and is back for another stint with Oakland as emergency relief depth. The 34-year-old journeyman right-hander has made 154 appearances in the majors dating back to 2017.
Rangers transferred RHP Austin Pruitt from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Pruitt has been on the shelf since April 24 with a right meniscus injury. He now won’t be eligible to return to the Rangers until June 24 at the earliest. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster, and Texas used it to select the contract of Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock.

No word from the Rangers yet on the severity of the injury, or how long Pruitt may be sidelined for. Grant Anderson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move to take his place in the club’s bullpen. Pruitt had registered a 12.46 ERA, 2.54 WHIP and a 1/3 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings in four appearances with the big league club.

Pruitt gets the call to join Texas’ bullpen mix after southpaw Brock Burke broke his non-throwing hand on Friday when he punched a clubhouse wall out of frustration. The 34-year-old veteran made 38 relief appearances last year for the rebuilding Athletics and figures to operate in low-leverage spots.
