Padres announced LHP Wandy Peralta exercised his $4.25 million player option for 2025.
Peralta signed a four-year, $16.5 million deal with the Padres last winter, but each of the last three seasons are player options. Peralta missed time with a groin injury and wound up with a 3.99 ERA and a 22/13 K/BB in 38 1/3 innings last season. It was his highest ERA since 2019.
Padres activated LHP Wandy Peralta off the 15-day injured list.
Peralta has been out since before the All-Star break with his groin injury. The 33-year-old southpaw gives San Diego yet another arm who can help their bullpen for the final month.
Padres placed LHP Wandy Peralta on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 11, with a groin injury.
The 32-year-old southpaw was pulled from Tuesday’s outing after injuring his groin, and after a couple of days he hasn’t really improved, so the Padres will sit him down for a couple of weeks to make sure that he gets right. Sean Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to take his place in the Padres’ bullpen.
Wandy Peralta left Tuesday’s game in the ninth inning with an apparent groin injury.
Peralta looked like he wanted to try some warmup pitches after grabbing at his groin area on his final offering of the night, but the team didn’t let him. Hopefully, it will prove to be a day-to-day injury.
