Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Chad Pinder plans to retire following his game with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

The 31-year-old outfielder is tired of bouncing around in the minor leagues and is ready to hang up his cleats -- at least for the time being. If this is indeed the last we have seen of Pinder, he winds up with a .242/.294/.417 career slash line with 62 homers, 197 RBI, five stolen bases and a 475/103 K/BB ratio over 1740 plate appearances across seven big league seasons with the Athletics.

Pinder latches on with the Braves as extra position player depth a couple days after being cut loose by the Nationals following 16 games for Triple-A Rochester. The 31-year-old outfielder has appeared in 553 games in the majors since 2016.

The 31-year-old outfielder had been stationed at Triple-A Rochester where he slashed .218/.307/.309 with one homer, four RBI and a 15/7 K/BB ratio across 62 plate appearances in his 16 games. He should be able to land another minor league pact elsewhere if he so chooses.

Pinder failed to make the Reds' season-opening roster earlier this spring and has quickly latched on with another rebuilding organization. The 30-year-old outfielder offers some defensive versatility, but he's struggled at the dish over the last few seasons. He's merely organizational depth at this stage of his career.
