Omar Narváez has elected free agency.
Narváez was removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster last week following the arrival of catching prospect Edgar Quero. The 33-year-old journeyman will test the open market after passing through waivers unclaimed. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him re-sign with the White Sox in the coming days as extra depth at Triple-A Charlotte.
White Sox designated C Omar Narváez for assignment.
The White Sox needed to make an opening on the 40-man roster for catching prospect Edgar Quero, so Narváez is the guy to go. He went 2-for-7 with two walks and one strikeout in 10 plate appearances for the White Sox in four games.
