Colin Moran went 1-for-3 and drove in a run in Saturday's Cactus League loss to the Guardians.
Moran finally got the Mariners on the board with an RBI single in the seventh inning that plated Tom Murphy. He hasn't had the strongest spring training -- hitting just .214 (6-for-28) with one run scored and one RBI -- but the fact that he's still in camp means that he has at least an outside shot at cracking the Opening Day roster still.
Mariners signed 1B/3B Colin Moran to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Moran provides the Mariners with some extra infield depth behind corner infielders Ty France and Eugenio Suárez and will battle this spring in the Cactus League for a spot on Seattle's Opening Day roster as a reserve. The 30-year-old infielder batted .211/.305/.376 with five homers in 128 plate appearances last season for the Pirates. He had launched double-digit homers in four consecutive seasons prior to last year. He's a solid depth addition for Seattle entering the 2023 campaign.
Reds released INF Colin Moran.
Moran was designated for assignment on Tuesday and will head into free agency after passing through waivers unclaimed. He was batting just .211/.305/.376 in 42 games this season with Cincinnati, and it might be tough for him to find another spot on a major league roster before the end of the year.
Reds designated INF Colin Moran for assignment.
Moran has been removed from the Reds' 40-man roster for the second time this season to make room for outfielder Albert Almora Jr. to return from the injured list.
