2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: The legend of San Francisco’s pitcher rehab program grew with Manaea’s return to form, mostly, in 2023. Over 37 appearances, 10 starts, he posted a 4.44 ERA (3.90 FIP, 3.83 SIERA) with seven wins, six losses, and a save for good measure. There were some very good other signs with Manaea too tying a full-season career-best in K-rate at 25.7-percent and neared 10.0 K/9.
2024 Outlook: The Mets are hoping that whatever he learned in the bay area will stick with him cross-country as he slots into the Mets’ rotation. He was slated to be the fourth starter for the Mets’ but will slot up a spot, temporarily, with the absence of Kodai Senga to start the year. There’s risk here that what he fixed last year doesn’t translate or he doesn’t stick in the rotation, but the upside is about as strong if he’s a mid-3.00s ERA starter with more than a K/IP.
