Tigers placed OF Manuel Margot on the 10-day injured list with left knee inflammation
This now makes it easier to understand why Margot kept sitting in recent days with Ryan Kreisler and Zach McKinstry in the outfield. We could potentially get more Riley Greene in center field now with Kreidler and McKinstry mixing in at one of the corner outfield spots.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Tigers have signed OF Manuel Margot.
Margot opted out of his contract with the Brewers after he didn’t make the team earlier this week. The 30-year-old outfielder will have plenty of opportunity to play with the Tigers as Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling are set to open the season on the injured list. Margot hit .250 with no home runs and six RBI in 11 spring training games with the Brewers. He hit .238 with four home runs and 38 RBI in 129 games with the Twins in 2024. Margot offers little fantasy utility outside of AL-Only leagues.
Brewers released OF Manuel Margot.
Margot is technically released, but this is assuredly a decision by the outfielder to opt out of his contract after being informed he wouldn’t make the team. The 30-year-old will hit the open market and look for an opportunity at the major-league level.
Manuel Margot went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Guardians and Brewers played to a draw.
Margot drove in a run with a ground out to shortstop in the second inning, pulling the Brewers to within a run at 4-3. He then smacked a two-run double the following frame, increasing the Brewers’ lead to 7-4. With Blake Perkins (shin) sidelined until May, the door is open for Margot to land a spot on the Opening Day roster with a strong showing down in Arizona.
