Crick was signed to a minor league deal in December with the hopes of winning a spot in the Mets’ bullpen. While the 30-year-old posted an 8.22 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and an 11/2 K/BB ratio over 7 2/3 innings in spring training for the Reds last year, he does have a career 3.56 ERA and 24.6 percent strikeout rate in 187 MLB innings. Unfortunately, he has struggled to remain healthy, which appears to be the case in 2024 as well.

The former first-round draft pick has made 194 big-league appearances out of the bullpen, a majority of those with the Pirates, but did not land on a major-league roster this past season. He made just 14 appearances for the White Sox in 2022 before getting shut down with an elbow injury. The Rays invited him to spring training in 2023 but he posted an 8.22 ERA over 7 2/3 innings of Grapefruit League action, failing to find a roster spot. His most recent action has come in the Dominican Winter League where he’s allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four batters, in 3 innings of work.

The 30-year-old right-hander was likely informed that he wouldn't make the big league bullpen, so he'll look for an opportunity elsewhere. Crick posted an 8.22 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and an 11/2 K/BB ratio over 7 2/3 innings in Grapefruit League action.

Crick will compete this spring in the Grapefruit League for a spot in the Rays' season-opening bullpen. The 30-year-old righty reliever made 14 relief appearances last season for the White Sox before suffering a season-ending right elbow injury. It's unclear whether he's fully healthy entering spring training, but he'll get a chance to make Tampa Bay's roster and represents an interesting gamble for a club that has had a ton of success with reliever imports.
