Pirates signed RHP Connor Sadzeck to a minor league contract.
Sadzeck last appeared in the big leagues for the Brewers during the 2022 campaign. He made 25 appearances last year for Triple-A St. Paul in Minnesota’s minor-league system before being cut loose in mid-July. The 32-year-old righty provides Pittsburgh with some extra minor league relief depth.

Sadzeck was released last week, presumably to pursue an opportunity overseas in either Japan or Korea, but that has yet to be confirmed. The 31-year-old righty has made 35 appearances (two starts) in the majors since the 2018 season.

Sadzeck made a pair of relief appearances last season for the Brewers, his first stint in the majors since the 2019 campaign. The 31-year-old right-hander provides the Twins with some extra organizational relief depth. He posted a solid 2.20 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 56/20 K/BB ratio across 49 innings (41 appearances) last year at the Triple-A level.

Sadzeck chose to test the waters of free agency after refusing an outright assignment to Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers. He will provide organizational depth for the lowly Nationals for the remainder of the 2022 campaign.
