Garcia cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A earlier in the week.

Garcia was added to the 40-man roster after an impressive second-half stint with Memphis in 2016, though his rough start to 2017 (.162/.225/.270 with one homer through 13 games) likely contributed to his departure from the 40-man. A corresponding roster move hasn't been announced yet.

Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

Garcia, who was competing for a reserve role in the outfield, didn't do much to distinguish himself in camp, going 6-for-24 with a pair of homers in Grapefruit League games. The 25-year-old should be in line for everyday at-bats with Memphis, but may need an injury to hit one of the outfielders on the big club before he receives his first promotion to the majors.

Garcia blasted a solo home run in his only at-bat during Thursday's 9-4 Grapefruit League win over the Braves.

The 25-year-old outfielder blasted his first round-tripper of spring when he took Jose Ramirez deep to left to round out the scoring on the day. Garcia had somewhat of a rough go of it at the plate in Triple-A Memphis last season, slashing .229/.296/.394 with eight homers and 27 RBI in 247 plate appearances. However, his .253 BABIP over that stretch indicates at least a degree of misfortune, which helped lead to what was Garcia's lowest batting average since 2014 at High-A Palm Beach. Factoring in Tuesday's production, Garcia is hitting .286 with Thursday's homer and four RBI overall in seven at-bats while seeing action in all six of the Cardinals' games.
