Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Scott McGough from Triple-A Reno.
McGough made 89 appearances for the Diamondbacks from 2023-2024, finishing with an underwhelming 5.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 111/51 K/BB ratio across 103 innings of work. The 35-year-old journeyman provides Arizona with some additional bullpen depth heading into Sunday’s series finale against the Braves.
Diamondbacks re-signed RHP Scott McGough to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
McGough returns to the fold with Arizona as extra relief depth just a few months after the club declined his $4 million club option for 2025. The 35-year-old journeyman struggled to a bloated 7.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 25/21 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings (26 appearances, two starts) this season for the Diamondbacks. He’ll most likely head to Triple-A Reno as emergency depth at the conclusion of spring training.
