Luis Severino struck out just one batter, but still worked eight innings while allowing only one run to get a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

It’s difficult to allow just a run while generating just one single strikeout and a total of five swings and misses over 92 pitches, but not impossible as Severino proved. he threw 63-of-92 pitches for strikes, and only one hit went for extra-bases. Severino has allowed just two runs over his last two starts after struggling in his previous few contests, and he’ll try and keep it up against the lowly White Sox next week.

Severino did his part against his former team, but the Mets exploded for seven runs after he left. It really didn’t matter anyway, since the A’s never scored in the game. Severino seemed amped up in averaging a season-high 96.7 mph with his fastball today; his average through three starts was 85.4 mph. His start next weekend will come in Milwaukee.

Luis Severino allowed five runs over seven innings to pick up a loss Monday to the Padres.

Severino pitched well after the first inning, which is good. He gave up three runs in that inning, however, which kinda defeats everything else. Severino has given up five earned in back-to-back starts after his impressive outing in the opener, and his ERA has inflated to 4.84 in the process. He’ll try to rebound against his old team in the Mets on Sunday.

Luis Severino allowed six runs, five earned, with six strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Cubs on Tuesday.

A throwing error and a walk put two runners on for Seiya Suzuki, who took Severino deep for a three-run shot to continue the Cubs offensive barrage early in this one. After a clean second inning, the Cubs brought two more runs in to score in the third, including a solo shot by Kyle Tucker. After letting up a sixth run in the fourth, Severino gave the Athletics two more frames to save the bullpen. The 31-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back when he takes on the Padres in Sacramento on Monday.
