2025 Player Outlook
After swiping 33 bags in 2023, Castro stole just 14 bases last season and was actually caught nine times. His sprint speed did drop from the 82nd percentile to the 66th percentile, but perhaps the 33 stolen bags in 2023 is the outlier, and Castro is more of a 15-20 steal guy. The quality of contact isn't great, all things considered, but he's willing to take a walk and should be a consistent presence at the top of the Minnesota lineup. He'll run into enough balls that he'll get to double-digit home runs, and his 2025 could be similar to his 2024 campaign, albeit with a few more stolen bases. Let's project 10-14 home runs with 18-22 stolen bases, and a .250ish average, and those numbers also come with eligibility at four different positions (2B/3B/SS/OF).
Player News
Willi Castro (oblique) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the White Sox.
It’ll be Brooks Lee at the hot corner, Edouard Julien at the keystone and rookie Luke Keashall at DH on Tuesday night at Target Field with Castro still out nursing a right oblique issue. There’s been zero indication that the versatile speedster will require a trip to the injured list, especially since the Twins have the extra infield depth to keep him on the bench for now.
Willi Castro (oblique) remains out of the lineup for a third straight game on Sunday against the Braves.
Castro will take a seat for the third consecutive contest as he continues to deal with a lingering right oblique issue. There’s been no indication that he’ll require a trip to the injured list and the Twins are apparently going to give him as much time as he needs to put the issue to bed. Fantasy managers should still consider him day-to-day for now.
Willi Castro (oblique) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Braves.
There’s zero incentive for the Twins to rush Castro back too quickly and risk a setback. The versatile infielder will sit out his second consecutive contest on Saturday night due to a right oblique issue. It’ll be Jonah Bride making his first appearance at the hot corner.
Willi Castro (oblique) was held out of the lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Braves.
Castro’s absence didn’t come as a surprise following his early exit from Wednesday’s showdown against the Mets with right oblique tightness. There’s been no indication that he’ll require a trip to the injured list at this point, but the Twins brought up top prospect Luke Keaschall to give them some additional firepower while he recovers. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
