Mets placed OF Jose Siri on the 10-day injured list with a left tibia fracture.
Siri will miss at least a week-plus, but this could be a longer stint than the minimum on the IL for the 29-year-old. The Mets will have Jose Azocar join the roster as a bench option while Siri recovers.
Jose Siri (tibia) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Rangers.
It’s worth noting that the Mets haven’t made an official roster move yet to replace Siri, who is facing a lengthy absence after being diagnosed with a fractured tibia.
Jose Siri has been diagnosed with a fractured left tibia and will be placed on the injured list.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said late Monday that Siri underwent an MRI and CT scan that revealed the fracture. The 29-year-old center fielder suffered the injury during Saturday’s game against the Athletics when he fouled a ball hard off his left shin. He’s going to wind up missing several months, even in a best-case scenario. It’ll be Tyrone Taylor getting the bulk of the playing time in center field in his absence for now.
Jose Siri (shin) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Twins.
Siri is probably going to need a few additional days, and could wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, after suffering a painful left shin contusion during Saturday’s showdown against the Athletics. It’ll be Tyrone Taylor continuing to patrol center field in his absence.
