Heath Bell told MLB.com that he's decided to retire.
Heath Bell lost 40 pounds during the offseason in hopes to compete for bullpen spot in the Nationals' bullpen.
The 37-year old veteran will have a tough time cracking the Washington bullpen. Washington praised Bell's work ethic so they are giving him a chance to compete for a spot. The bullpen is already packed with players to the likes of Drew Storen, Casey Janssen, Craig Stammen, Jerry Blevins, Matt Thornton and Tanner Roark. Bell has very little fantasy value for the upcoming season.
Nationals have signed Heath Bell to a minor league deal that includes an invite to spring training.
Bell has been a hot mess over the last few seasons and last year\'s 7.27 ERA over 17.1 innings for the Rays hasn\'t inspired many to take a chance on a rebound. The Nationals are making a low-risk move here with the minor-league deal, so there\'s really nothing bad that can come from this.
Carlos Beltran (elbow) remains out of the Yankees' starting lineup Monday.
There\'s a good chance that Beltran misses the rest of the season because of an elbow/shoulder injury. He\'s going to require surgery, but is trying to delay the so he can continue to play. Get him out of all fantasy lineups.
