Capuano last pitched in 2016 for the Brewers, missing most of the season with an elbow injury. His retirement ends a 12-year major-league career in which he pitched for six teams. The lefty went 77-92 with a 4.38 ERA over 1,429.2 innings.

Capuano's season ended in July, when he had a platelet rich injection to help his elbow to heal. He will look to continue pitching in 2017, although it may be with another team other than Milwaukee in the coming season.

Brewers general manager David Stearns said it is “unlikely" Chris Capuano (elbow) will return to action this season.

Capuano was given a platelet-rich plasma injection back in July to combat his flexor strain, but he apparently hasn't felt much improvement. The left-hander will be a free agent this winter.

Chris Capuano (elbow) underwent a PRP injection during the All-Star break and is not with the Brewers on this trip.

Capuano should be returning soon but is not with the Brewers right now and we're not exactly sure when he will be. Capuano is way past his prime and isn't going to be much of a player for the Brewers even when he's healthy.
