Alex Dickerson has signed with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.

Dickerson spent this past season playing for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League and also had a stint in the Mexican League. The 33-year-old outfielder, who had success earlier in his career with the Giants, got into 13 games for the Braves during the 2022 campaign, which was his last appearance in the big leagues. He’ll take his talents overseas to Japan for 2024.

Alex Dickerson has elected free agency.

Dickerson signed a one-year, $1 million contract last March with the Braves and wound up hitting just .121/.194/.212 with one round-tripper over 36 plate appearances in 13 games before being designated for assignment in late April. The 32-year-old outfielder simply hasn't hit at all over the last two years and will struggle to find an opportunity in the majors this offseason. He could get another shot as a part-time righty-mashing platoon outfielder.
