In his five starts for Philadelphia this season he had not made it through the sixth in any of them and in his last start, July 4th, Atlanta shelled him for 10 hits, nine earned in 3 1/3 innings. Severino Gonzalez will take his place in the rotation. Meanwhile we'll have to wait and see if Correia clears waivers or not.

Correia is now 0-3 on the season with a 6.56 ERA. He has failed to make it past the fifth inning in five starts this season. Things just keep getting worse and worse for this Phillies team and Correia is not going to help out the cause. Correia is scheduled to start Thursday night against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Through four starts this season, Correia has actually not been terrible with a 3.60 ERA and a 3.89 xFIP. His control has been decent, but his strikeout rate is quite low and limits any fantasy value he might have. But given that he hasn’t had a sub-4.00 ERA since 2009, don’t buy into him being fantasy-useful just yet. He’ll go again Friday in Atlanta.

Through his first three starts of the season, Correia has been what most of us expected. He isn’t going to wow you in any way, he isn’t going to dominate and he surely isn’t a fantasy game changer. After allowing just two earned runs in his first 10 2/3 innings, he came back to reality in this one, allowing five earned runs on eight hits. He was pulled after just 78 pitches, indicating that the team doesn’t have much faith with the veteran righty. His next start will come on Sunday against the Washington Nationals.
