Free agent Adam LaRoche said he will be back on the field in 2016.

LaRoche found himself at the center of attention this year when he announced his sudden retirement to spend more time with his son, but he has now gotten his name back in the mix with a bit of fascinating news. The National Baseball Congress, which hosts a summer tournament in Wichita, Kan. every year, announced that LaRoche has formed a team called the Kansas Stars to compete. On the team include a who's who of former stars, including seven-time Cy Young award winner Roger Clemens, along with multiple former All-Stars Josh Beckett, Tim Hudson, Roy Oswalt and Jason Isringhausen. And the lineup includes J.D. Drew, Brandon Inge and Dan Uggla. This will provide LaRoche a chance to show he still has game and can come back to be an effective player.

LaRoche was disappointing last season but was hoping to make a good comeback in 2016 in his second season in the American League but that won't be the case. He finishes his career as a .260 hitter with 255 home runs and 882 RBI between the Braves, Pirates, Diamondbacks, Nationals, and White Sox. We wish him luck in his future pursuits.

Adam LaRoche (back) ran the bases, took groundballs and hit Friday. He said his swing is about 80 percent, but everything else felt good.

After being brought in the 2015 offseason to help protect Jose Abreu, LaRoche flopped. He was simply awful and needs to bounce back in a huge way if he wants to receive regular at-bats. He needs to hit lefties better especially, as he hit just .221 against them in '15.
