Royals placed 1B/OF Mark Canha on the 10-day injured list with a left hip strain.
Canha will wind up missing at least a couple weeks, even in a best-case scenario, after making an early exit from Tuesday’s game against the Twins with a hip ailment. It’ll be Drew Waters coming up from Triple-A Omaha to take his spot on Kansas City’s active roster.
Mark Canha was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Twins with left hip soreness.
Canha was involved in a collision with the left-field wall earlier in the contest, which is presumably what led to the injury. He should be considered day-to-day for now.
With the Royals facing a lefty for the first time this season, Mark Canha is getting a start in left field on Sunday.
It’s just the second start for Canha. We’d say he’s still a better option against right-handers than Cavan Biggio, who has started five games between first base, left field and DH, but we don’t make out the Royals lineup. Canha is mostly going to be in there versus southpaws for now.
Royals selected the contract of 1B/OF Mark Canha from Triple-A Omaha.
It’s a procedural move since Canha, who was acquired last weekend from the Brewers in a small trade, was technicality in camp as a non-roster invitee following the deal. The 36-year-old veteran has locked up a spot on Kansas City’s season-opening roster in a reserve role. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats outside of deeper AL-only formats.
