Josh Beckett plans to retire.
Dodgers transfered RHP Josh Beckett to the 60-day disabled list.
Beckett is done for the season with a torn labrum and is considering retirement. Obviously, he can be dropped in all leagues.
Josh Beckett (hip) says he's out for the season.
Wow. We are all so shocked. Beckett was solid over the first three months of the season, but injuries have derailed him since July. He is 34-years-old, so it isn\'t like he\'s ancient by any means, but his body has broken down in recent years and it will only get harder to mount a resurgence. His future could be in doubt, but we\'ll know more in the offseason.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said RHP Josh Beckett pitching again this season is probably not very possible. Surgery is up to him now.
The long and the short of this is that Josh Beckett needs to make a decision about whether or not he wants to undergo surgery. The craziest thing is, even if he decides to go with the rest and rehab over an operation, he\'s almost surely be done for the year. Beckett has pitched well this season, posting a 2.88 ERA and 107/39 K/BB ratio over 115 2/3 innings. The 34-year-old will be a free agent this winter.
