Mike Adams has left the Dodgers, and will not report to Triple-A.
This likely means Adams will retire though it is possible he could decide to report later, or the Dodgers could decide to trade or release him. Adams threw just 18 2/3 innings last season, but he struck out 21 batters against just eight walks. If Adams decides not to retire he could pitch his way into a meaningful bullpen role before the end of the season.
Mike Adams will start his season in the minor leagues.
Adams has dealt with shoulder injuries over the last two seasons but the Dodgers liked him enough to pay him a $100,000 retention bonus. This spring he allowed five runs in a little over four innings of work. The team is going to take it slow with him and hope that they can get the maximum out of their investment. If he's able to prove his health, he could serve as bullpen depth later in the season.
Mike Adams has been told he won't make Dodgers opening day roster. He'll start regular season in Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Adams allowed five earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings this spring and just didn't appear to have the command or velocity he once had. It is not yet known as to whether or not he will accept the assignment or try and move on elsewhere.
Mike Adams (shoulder) is scheduled to make another spring appearance on Wednesday.
We finally saw Mike Adams make his spring debut on Saturday and he remarked after the game that his body has bounced back well from his appearance. This is a great sign, but you really can not rely on him this season in your Fantasy Baseball bullpen. He is now 36 years old and has only pitched just over 18 innings last season due to a right rotator cuff injury.
