Mets released RHP Trevor Cahill.
Cahill signed a minor league contract with the Mets back in late May and has been cut loose after posting a bloated 6.52 ERA, 2.28 WHIP and 17/19 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings (eight appearances, six starts) this season for Triple-A Syracuse. The 34-year-old veteran righty has made 361 appearances (233 starts) in the majors since 2009. There's a possibility this is it.

The 33-year-old was on the 60-day injured list with a calf injury, so this will obviously set his recovery back quite a bit. Cahill is likely out for the rest of the season at this point.
