Pirates’ outfielder Tommy Pham received a one-game suspension and was levied an undisclosed fine for his “inappropriate actions towards fans” on Wednesday night.

The 37-year-old outfielder didn’t take kindly to something that the Angels’ fans were chirping him about and he responded by giving them a lewd hand gesture. Pham has elected to appeal the suspension. Regardless, with the way that Pham is playing, he shouldn’t be anywhere near fantasy lineups.

Tommy Pham is not in the Pirates’ starting lineup for Thursday night’s showdown against the Angels.

The 37-year-old outfielder is slashing a cringe-inducing .184/.267/.224 on the season and if he keeps it up much longer, he’s going to lose a whole lot more than just an occasional start. Alexander Canario will start in his place on Thursday evening and bat sixth against Angels’ southpaw Tyler Anderson.

Tommy Pham went hitless in a third straight game Saturday against the Guardians.

Pham is hitting just .127/.233/.159 overall, and he should be in line to lose playing time now that Bryan Reynolds is back playing the outfield. He’s obviously not this bad, but he always figured to be below average against right-handers.

Tommy Pham delivered a walkoff hit in the bottom of the 11th to give the Pirates a 5-4 win over the Yankees on Sunday.

The Yankees had to bring everyone in after automatic runner Jack Suwinski stole third base with one out and the score tied in the 11th, but Pham hit his drive far enough that it probably didn’t matter. The 388-foot shot to left center off Devin Williams actually would have been a homer in 17 parks, Statcast says. Pham also had an RBI on a sac fly today. They were his first runs driven in of the year.
