Claudio went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The 31-year-old southpaw reliever made just one appearance for the Brewers and will remain with the organization as extra relief depth.

Claudio has been removed from Milwaukee's 40-man roster to make room for infielder Andruw Monasterio to be added ahead of Saturday's game against the Giants. The 31-year-old lefty has made only one relief appearance this season for the Brewers, but should garner some interest on waivers given his extensive track record.

Claudio was up for just two days, and he gave up two hits but no runs in one-third of an inning in his lone appearance.

With Matt Bush (shoulder) landing on the injured list and Javy Guerra getting designated for assignment, there's room for the 31-year-old southpaw to stick in the Brewers' bullpen if he pitches well. He was off to a nice start at Triple-A Nashville -- posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio over six innings of work.
