Giants have signed Kyle Drabek to a minor league deal.
Being the son of a former Major Leaguer, Kyle has not been able to follow in father Doug's footsteps. At this point in his career, the youngster has a 5.26 ERA, and has has had multiple chances pitch. The Giants are giving him a shot at shortstop, so it remains to be seen if he can catch on as a position player. At this point, he is just organizational depth.
Diamondbacks have released Kyle Drabek.
Drabek was a highly-touted prospect at one point in his career, but at 28 that tout is pretty far in the rear-view mirror now. He made just one appearance for the D'backs this season, back in April, before spending the rest of his time at Triple-A and racking up a 6.08 ERA as a reliever. He is just taking up a roster spot that could go to a better prospect or option and he will now try and join another team.
The Diamondbacks secured outright waivers on RHP Kyle Drabek and assigned him to Triple-A Reno Monday.
Drabek throw two innings earlier in the week and walked four batters in that span which was enough to get him sent down to Triple-A. With the move sending him down to the farm, it clears the way for Matt Buschmann to fill the role in the bullpen for now. He should be back up with the big club at some point once he gets his control in order.
Diamondbacks designate RHP Kyle Drabek for assignment.
It was a very short stay for a veteran pitcher trying to make a comeback. Former prospect Kyle Drabek was released one day after walking four batters in a two inning appearance on Thursday night. He will be put on waivers and can be claimed by any team.
