Giants re-signed Marco Scutaro on Wednesday and assigned him to the 60-day disabled list.
Scutaro's career is winding down and it seems as though a severe back injury will ultimately end it. San Francisco re-signed him to a deal that will most likely ensure he ends his career as a Giant.
March is the next bench mark for Marco Scutaro, 39, as to whether he can realistically restart his career after serious back surgery.
Scutaro is obviously having some mental difficulty saying goodbye to the game, so someone is going to have to do it for him. Maybe an entire team of MLB doctors can sit him own and inform him that it's over. The fantasy community told him that years ago.
Giants have released 2B Marco Scutaro.
Scutaro had back surgery back in December and is expected to miss 4-6 months while he recovers which would cause him to miss the first few months of the season. Scutaro missed all but five games last season with a back injury and it seems likely that his career is winding down at 39 years old.
Giants designate Marco Scutaro for assignment.
The Giants have finally parted ways with their 39-year-old second baseman Marco Scutaro. The move gives San Francisco a much needed spot on their 40-man roster for recently-signed outfielder Norichika Aoki. Scutaro was not going to play most of the 2015 season after undergoing fusion surgery on his back in December. He will still be owed $6 million in the last year of his three-year contract. This may be the last we see of Scutaro in the big leagues, but you never know.
