Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Freddy Galvis has signed a two-year contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

Heyman says that Galvis will make $7.4 million plus incentives, so you can understand why he made the decision to head overseas. The 32-year-old shortstop slashed .242/.302/.407 with 14 long balls and 40 RBI in 394 plate appearances with the Orioles and Phillies during the 2021 season.

Given the current lockout, Galvis certainly won't be the only unsigned MLB veteran who pursues opportunities overseas. The switch-hitting 32-year-old shortstop hit .242/.302/.407 with 14 homers and 40 RBI in 394 plate appearances between the Orioles and Phillies during the 2021 campaign.

Freddy Galvis went 2-for-4 and scored a run as the Phillies fell to the Mets on Sunday night.

Galvis reached on an infield single with one out in the fifth inning, then came around to score the Phillies second run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bryce Harper. With the two-hit attack, the 31-year-old middle infielder is now hitting .245/.304/.394 with 13 homers, 39 RBI and one stolen base in 94 games on the year.

Freddy Galvis drilled a two-run homer on Sunday in the Phillies' win over the Marlins.

Galvis belted a two-run homer off righty Elieser Hernandez in the fourth inning. He also scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning of the extra-inning affair. He's gone deep twice in his last three games.
