ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports Jurickson Profar has received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for a performance enhancing substance.

Atlanta’s nightmarish start to the 2025 campaign continues. Profar put together an unexpected late-career breakthrough campaign last year with the Padres, which now has some additional context, before signing a three-year, $42 million in the offseason to take over as the Braves’ everyday left fielder. His absence also creates a void in the leadoff spot. The club’s recent outfield additions, most notably Alex Verdugo and Stuart Fairchild, make a lot more sense with Profar set to miss the entire first half of the season. He’s also ineligible for postseason play, if the Braves make it that far. It’ll be some combination of Jarred Kelenic and Bryan De La Cruz getting the first shot at replacing him in Atlanta’s lineup. It remains to be seen whether the Braves will finally commit to putting Michael Harris II in the leadoff spot. We’ll see.

Jurickson Profar went 2-for-4 with a double Thursday in his return to Atlanta’s lineup.

It was Profar’s first game action since he injured his wrist on March 8. He hit leadoff today, and it appears likely that he’ll fill that role for the Braves until Ronald Acuña Jr. is ready to return from a torn ACL. At that point, manager Brian Snitker could move everyone down a spot or simply drop Profar into bottom half of the order.

Jurickson Profar (wrist) will return to the lineup for Thursday’s spring game against the Phillies.

Profar will return to Atlanta’s lineup following a nearly two-week absence due to bone bruise in his left wrist. The 32-year-old outfielder is expected to be a full-go for the rest of spring training, which puts him in line to be ready for next week’s Opening Day contest.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker told reporters that Jurickson Profar (wrist) has been making progress towards a return.

Snitker notes that Profar has been able to take part in batting practice, and most importantly, Snitker expects Profar to return to game action at some point this week. The 32-year-old outfielder should be ready for Opening Day, but obviously fantasy players will want to see that return to game action before getting too excited.
