Nationals release RHP Taylor Jordan.
Jordan was still on the 40-man roster for the Nats even though he had undergone a Tommy John surgery in May. That spot is needed for Lucas Giolito to come up and make his MLB debut on Tuesday so a straight out release was warranted with him already at Triple-A. Jordan won't be healthy enough until the middle of next year at least so there was really no danger in make this move.
Nationals announce that RHP Taylor Jordan had Tommy John surgery Thursday.
Not only is Taylor Jordan out for the remainder of the 2016 season, but he has undergone his second Tommy John Surgery in his career. He will be sidelined for at least the next eight months and his return from the surgery would be the second half of next year at the earliest without a setback. He has no fantasy value the rest of this season.
Taylor Jordan was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
The 27-year old has appeared in games for the Nationals for the past three seasons, but has never made the club out of spring. He's pitched in 18 big league games since 2013, going 1-8 while posting a 4.48 ERA.
Nationals have recalled RHP Taylor Jordan from Triple-A Syracuse.
With Joe Ross now moving into the bullpen to restrict his innings and Tanner Roark rejoining the rotation after winning 15 games last season, Washington needs a long relief man and that's where Jordan comes in. He is unlikely to have very much value on the waiver wire since the long man is a lightly used arm out of the pen as it's not often the starter fails that badly.
