De Aza (hand) was activated from the minor-league injured list at Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
De Aza missed a brief period with a bruised right hand. The veteran has hit .333/.410/.588 in 28 games for Rochester this season.
De Aza was placed on Triple-A Rochester's 7-day injured list Sunday with a right hand contusion, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
The Twins plucked De Aza from the independent-ball ranks in mid-July and assigned him to Rochester, where he slashed .333/.410/.588 across 102 at-bats before being shut down with the injury. Though a bruised hand doesn't sound like an especially severe injury, it may end any chance the 35-year-old had of receiving a September callup.
De Aza signed a minor-league deal with the Twins on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
De Aza had an .807 OPS in 32 games at Triple-A last season after failing to make the Opening Day roster with the Nationals. The 35-year-old has not played affiliated baseball this season and has a .260/.325/.396 slash line over a 10-year major-league career.
De Aza signed a minor league deal to remain with the Nationals, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports Monday.
The Nationals released De Aza over the weekend, but will keep him around as organizational depth in the outfield. He mustered just a .547 OPS in 28 games for the Nationals in 2017, so only expect him up in an emergency.
