Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Wednesday that Eury Pérez (elbow) is roughly one month from starting a minor league rehab assignment.
Pérez threw 45 pitches on Wednesday in a live batting practice session, which included three up-and-downs, as he continues to ramp up his throwing progression towards a midseason return to Miami’s rotation. The dynamic 22-year-old righty should be ready to make his first rehab start in mid-May and could potentially be ready by mid-to-late June for his season debut.
Eury Pérez (elbow) will face hitters on Wednesday in a live batting practice session.
Pérez continues to ramp up his throwing program in advance of a midseason return to Miami’s rotation. The uber-talented 22-year-old is in the final stages of his rehabilitation process from Tommy John surgery and should be set for minor league rehab starts at some point in the coming weeks.
Eury Pérez (elbow) will face hitters on Tuesday in a live batting practice session.
Pérez isn’t expected to be an option for Miami’s starting rotation until roughly midseason as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. However, the fact that he’s already progressed to facing hitters is an extremely encouraging development. The 21-year-old phenom should be ready for minor league rehab outings by the end of April, barring something unexpected.
Marlins placed RHP Eury Pérez on the 60-day Injured List.
Pérez is recovering from Tommy John surgery and isn’t expected back until around the All-Star break, so this has no impact on his timeline. The Marlins simply needed a spot on the 40-man roster for newly-claimed reliever Seth Martinez.
