RP Esmil Rogers has signed a one-year $1.9 million deal with the Hanwha Eagles of the KBO.
Rogers was never able to keep the ball in the ballpark in the majors, and the KBO is a more lucrative alternative to Triple-A. Rogers is just 30 years old, so it is possible he could return to a big league club in 2017 if he has success with the Eagles next season.
Yankees announce the release of Esmil Rogers so he can sign with Hanwha of Korean League.
Rogers was abysmal this year, pitching to a 6.27 ERA and 1.67 WHIP over 33 innings. He'll go to Korea where his numbers should be better.
Yankees outrighted RHP Esmil Rogers to Triple-A Scranton.
Carlos Beltran is battling an oblique injury but the Yanks don't want to relegate him to the DL just yet, but need the roster spot for an extra outfielder so Rogers was the odd man out. Rogers has a 6.27 ERA and 31 strikeouts in the majors this season.
Esmil Rogers has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton.
Rogers will come back to the majors to give the bullpen a fresh arm after having to tax it a little in Saturday's win. He holds little to no fantasy value.
