Jeremy Affeldt will announce his retirement from the NFL.
His ability to pitch both regularly and effectively throughout the week has greatly diminished and no one wants a 36-year old LOOGY with a 6.09 ERA. He's got his rings and will always have a spot in the hearts of Giants fans, so it's time to move on. We wish him the best of luck.
Jeremy Affeldt was officially activated from the 15-day disabled list.
Affeldt has been out of action since August 23rd due to a left patella tendon injury. The 36-year-old has posted an ugly 5.46 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 31 1/3 innings. At his age, it's possible he's passed his point of effectiveness.
Jeremy Affeldt (knee) will be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.
He will return to a middle relief role for the Giants and offers zero value for fantasy owners in both daily play and seasonal.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said pitcher Jeremy Affeldt will be activated from the disabled list before Monday's game.
Affeldt has struggled this season, with a 5.46 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 31 1/3 innings, though he has been a bit better since struggling in May and June. Affeldt has traditionally been a great source of holds, and if you are desperate for holds, he could be worth a pickup.
