2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Like much of the Mets in 2023, Marte was befallen by injuries that limited him to just 86 games played. On the surface, the slash line of .248/.301/.324 was disappointing coming off a much better effort in 2022, but there’s more to it. The expected stats had Marte at an xBA of .275 and xSLG of .445. His 24 steals were very good in just 341 PA.
2024 Outlook: Marte is already injured in the Dominican Winter League as he deals with an ailing groin. For a guy with his injury history — has played just two seasons of 145+ games since 2013 — that’s not great. Assuming he plays in the range of games he managed in 2021 and 2022, Marte should be a .250-.260 hitter with a shot to go 15-30 in HR-SB.
