Pete Kozma has signed with the Kansas City Monarchs of the independent American Association.
Kozma appeared in three games last year with the Athletics. The 34-year-old veteran utility infielder holds a pedestrian .213/.276/.288 triple-slash line with five homers and eight steals in 825 plate appearances in the majors since 2011. He's had stints with the Cardinals, Rangers, Yankees, Tigers and Athletics over an eight-year career.
Athletics sent INF Pete Kozma outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Kozma will become a free agent after clearing waivers. The veteran infielder was added to the A's roster late in the season for roster depth. He figures to get a spring training invite somewhere over the winter.
