White Sox signed OF Zack Granite to a minor-league contract.
Granite was released by the Yankees after failing to make their crowded Opening Day roster. The 28-year-old outfielder will provide organizational depth for the White Sox at Triple-A Charlotte this season.
Granite signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees on Friday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Granite will receive an invitation to major-league spring training, though he's not particularly likely to make the team. The 27-year-old has played just 40 career games at the highest level, all in 2017 with the Twins, hitting .237/.321/.290.
Granite was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
The 27-year-old failed to make a major-league appearance in 2019, but hit .290/.331/.375 with three home runs with Triple-A Nashville.
Granite was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Granite was promoted Wednesday but did not make an appearance in his brief stay with the Rangers. The 26-year-old was hitting .291/.325/.362 in 48 games for the Sounds prior to his callup.
