Curtis was released from Triple-A Nashville, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Curtis, who pitched in eight games for the Rangers in 2018, leaves the organization after posting an 8.90 ERA over 30.1 innings at Nashville. The 27-year-old left-hander becomes a free agent.
Curtis returned to the Rangers on a minor-league deal on Monday.
The deal includes an invitation to major-league spring training. The lefty has thrown 38 major-league innings over the last three seasons, pitching for four different organizations. He owns a 4.74 ERA and an ugly 34:35 K:BB.
Curtis was non-tendered by Texas on Friday.
Curtis spent time at the big-league level with both the Phillies and Rangers in 2018. He registered a 4.96 ERA with 18 punchouts over 16.1 innings and struggled with his command, issuing 19 walks over that span.
Curtis was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Curtis will join the Rangers for the first time since being claimed in early August. The 26-year-old has a career 3.73 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 31.1 innings and adds to the Rangers' bullpen depth with September's expanded rosters.
