Daza underwent left shoulder surgery last June and was a long shot to find an opportunity this spring with a major league club. The 29-year-old contact-oriented outfielder will aim to rebuild his long-term value south of the border in 2023.

Daza was removed from the Rockies’ 40-man roster back in early May and will miss the remainder of the 2023 campaign.

Daza cleared waivers after being designated for assignment on Friday. The 29-year-old will remain with the organization as depth. 

With Brenton Doyle's emergence and Randal Grichuk's return, Daza was a victim of the numbers game. He can play all three outfield positions and has a strong arm, so he should draw some interest on waivers. The 29-year-old has hit .270/.304/.351 over 80 plate appearances this season.
