Sánchez heads to spring training with Los Angeles attempting to latch on in a bench role. The 32-year-old infielder hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2022 season when he got into 17 contests between the Red Sox and Mets. He spent all of last year at Triple-A Syracuse in New York’s system, batting .226/.346/.393 with nine homers and nine steals in 399 plate appearances over 111 games.

Sánchez spent last year with the Braves at Triple-A Gwinnett, posting a respectable .731 OPS with eight homers and four steals in 481 plate appearances. The 31-year-old journeyman infielder last appeared in the majors during the 2020 campaign with the White Sox.

In total, the Braves sent out nine players from big league camp on Monday, with five others getting optioned to Triple-A. Sanchez, 30, really struggled in Grapefruit League action -- hitting just .069 (2-for-29) with zero RBI and one swipe. He'll function as infield depth at the Triple-A level.

Sanchez got into 17 contests last season between the Red Sox and Mets, tallying just four hits in 37 at-bats. The 30-year-old infielder gives the Braves some additional organizational infield depth. He's a career .243/.299/.355 hitter with 32 homers and 30 steals in 2,503 plate appearances in the majors since 2014. He could wind up making it to Atlanta sometime this season.
