2025 Player Outlook
This could be the last season that Contreras has eligibility behind the dish, as St. Louis is set on him being a full-time first baseman and designated hitter in 2025. Obviously, the biggest value for your fantasy team will be slotting him in behind the dish, because only a handful of fantasy catchers will play in 140+ games. Contreras missed a lot of time last year due to injury, but when he was out there, the numbers were great, highlighted by 15 home runs, a .468 SLG, and .206 ISO across 84 games. I’m not convinced that Contreras hits above .255 for a third-straight season, but in his age 33 season, 20+ home runs, 70+ RBI, and a .350+ OBP should be in the cards. Give him a slight bump in leagues that value OBP over AVG, and he should be anywhere from the fourth to eighth catcher off the board.
