Braves reassigned RHP Wander Suero to minor league camp.
Suero was signed to a minor league pact with an invitation to spring training back in December, but was always a long shot to make the Opening Day roster. Assuming there’s no opt-out, Suero will begin 2025 with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Braves signed RHP Wander Suero to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Suero, 33, made just one appearance at the big league level in 2024, allowing a hit and ultimately a run to the only batter that he faced in a loss against the Royals. He was terrific at Triple-A Sugar Land though, posting a 2.66 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 71/33 K/BB ratio over 67 2/3 innings of work. He makes for a very nice bullpen depth addition for the Braves.
Astros sent RHP Wander Suero outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Suero went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will presumably stick around as extra organizational relief depth. The 32-year-old righty made one appearance for the Astros earlier this month.
Astros designated RHP Wander Suero for assignment.
The Astros’ needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Joel Kuhnel on Friday and unfortunately Suero was the odd-man out this time around. There’s a decent chance that the 32-year-old hurler will pass through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as excess bullpen depth for the Astros.
