Moore played in 104 games this season during his first year with the Marlins, but was removed from the 40-man roster, along with three others, Saturday. During the 2017 campaign, he slashed .230/.267/.401 with six home runs and 30 RBI.

The Marlins' timeshare at first base has seemingly favored Tomas Telis of late, as he'll pick up his fourth start in five games while Moore rides the bench. With Telis batting .348 over his last eight appearances and Moore off to a 6-for-33 start to August, manager Don Mattingly's decision to ride the hotter bat isn't a surprising one. It may take a multi-game cold spell from Telis before Moore starts picking up regular at-bats again.

With Moore picking up his fourth start in six games, it looks as though he's at least temporarily seized control of the timeshare at first base ahead of Tomas Telis, who has been his main competition for duties at the position since Justin Bour (oblique) hit the disabled list. Both Moore and Telis offer limited fantasy appeal outside of NL-only leagues, but Moore's upside is probably greater due to the superior power he's displayed in the minors and over parts of five seasons in the majors.

Moore had started the last couple games at first base, but it appears manager Don Mattingly is aiming for more of a platoon system between him and Tomas Telis while Justin Bour (oblique) remains on the disabled list. The 30-year-old Moore may need to do more at the plate if he wants to see increased action, as he has just four hits in his last 22 at-bats.
