Diamondbacks sign RHP Tyler Chatwood to a minor league contract.
The 34-year-old right-hander is back with Arizona after he made a three-week stint in the D-backs’ farm system last August. The veteran reliever hasn’t made an appearance in the majors since the 2021 season, but made the most of his opportunity at the Triple-A level last season when he allowed just one run across 5 1/3 innings of work.

Chatwood signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks earlier this month and wound up only making five relief appearances for Triple-A Reno.

The 33-year-old right-hander was released by the Pirates back in June after posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and an 18/21 K/BB ratio over 10 innings in the minor leagues. He’ll add depth in the upper minors for the D’Backs.

Chatwood signed a minor league contract with the Pirates last December after spending last year with the SoftBank Hawks of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. The 33-year-old righty wound up making just nine appearances (one start) this season in the Pirates' system before being cut loose.
