Beede made 13 appearances for Cleveland in 2024, allowing 13 earned runs on 16 hits in 14 innings while striking out 18 and walking nine. He has reportedly been working out at the Lion’s Den, a baseball training facility in Houston, and working out for MLB scouts. He has shifted primarily to a bullpen role since 2019 and could eventually pitch himself into some big league innings this season.

Beede went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week by the Guardians after struggling to an inflated 8.36 ERA over 14 innings (13 appearances) in his first stint back in the majors since 2022. The 30-year-old righty will most likely wind up electing free agency.

The 30-year-old right-hander seemingly pitched himself out of a job on Thursday night, giving up five runs on three hits and a pair of walks while recording only one out against the Astros. Overall, he posted an 8.36 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and an 18/9 K/BB ratio over 14 innings with the Guardians. There’s a chance that another club could take a shot at him on waivers.

Beede winds up making Cleveland’s season-opening roster and will pitch in relief to open the year. The 30-year-old righty hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2022 campaign.
