Trevor Williams picked up a win after allowing four runs in 5 1/3 innings versus the Reds on Saturday.
A pretty standard start for Williams, who has a 5.86 ERA while yet to last longer than 5 1/3 innings in seven turns this season. He’s due to face the Cardinals next week.
Trevor Williams surrendered five runs in 5 1/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Mets.
And this was the better part of the game for the Nationals. Willams fell to 1-3 with a 5.70 ERA. His peripherals are better than the ERA suggests, but he still is and ever shall be Trevor Williams. There’s the chance the Nationals could have the rehabbing Michael Soroka replace him, rather than Brad Lord, in the rotation, but it doesn’t seem all that likely to happen. He is due to pitch in Cincinnati next.
Trevor Williams allowed six hits and one run with one walk and five strikeouts across five innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Wednesday.
Williams kept the Orioles at bay despite letting traffic on the bases in nearly every inning and not throwing a single pitcher harder than 89 mph. He stuck with a sweeper-heavy approach against what was predominantly a left-handed hitting Baltimore lineup and managed to limit hard contact and miss just enough bats to mostly keep them off the board. This was a good step in the right direction after a tough start to the season, but it’s still worth proceeding with caution before his scheduled two-start week against the Mets and Phillies.
Trevor Williams yielded just one run while working five innings, but picked up a loss to the Pirates on Thursday.
