Mariners sent LHP Tommy Milone outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Milone went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last Thursday by Seattle. The 36-year-old journeyman left-hander has made a pair of starts this season for the Mariners and will presumably opt to stick around in case another spot start arises. It’s also possible he’ll elect free agency to find a new opportunity.

The 36-year-old southpaw made a spot start against the Giants on Wednesday — giving up just one earned run over 4 1/3 innings against the Giants. There’s a chance that another club desperate for starting pitching depth could take a shot on him.

Tommy Milone surrendered two runs — one earned — over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss against the Giants.

The Mariners had recalled Milone to make his second start of the season for the team. He got through two scoreless frames before a single, walk, and a sacrifice fly brought a run in for the Giants in the third inning. A walk and a single put two runners on in the fifth before a fielding error allowed the second run to score. That would be it for Milone, who finished with one earned run allowed on four hits and no strikeouts to four walks. The 36-year-old southpaw now has a 2.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 3/6 K/BB across nine innings.
