Hunter debuted as a starter with the Rangers in 2008 and went 13-4 with a 3.73 ERA two years later. He eventually settled into the pen and on three occasions put up sub-3.00 ERAs in seasons of at least 60 appearances before battling injures in his 30s. Overall, he finishes up at 56-47 with a 4.07 ERA (105 ERA+) and 22 saves in 76 starts and 432 relief appearances.
