Tim Tebow

Tebow was not on the initial list that the Mets released Sunday afternoon, but they do still have 10 open spots to fill. The former NFL quarterback, who turns 33 years old this August, batted just .163/.240/.255 over 264 plate appearances last season for the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.

The injury occurred on a stolen base attempt, which is never a good sign. As of now, there are no details on the injury, which makes many speculate whether or not it is serious. For now, his Fall League may be in jeopardy considering it only runs through mid-November.

Like it or not, Tebow will dominate headlines for the next several weeks as he reports to the instructional league. A league that Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto have been a part of in the past, for whatever that's worth. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see what Tebow can do after not playing competitive baseball for nearly a decade.

The next step for Tebow will be instructional league or the Arizona Fall League. The former college quarterback standout was just hoping for an opportunity to show that he can make it in baseball and he will now get that. Tebow still faces a ton of hurdles to ever make it to the big leagues, but he crossed the first bridge by signing a contract.
